PB Lawrence Stakes – Caulfield – tips

On to Caulfield today for the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes (previously the JJ Liston Stakes), the first Group 2 of the season.  Won in the past by horses such as Mahogany, Sydeston, Apache Cat and Whobegotyou, the race is the unofficial start of the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival.

The weather forecast is fine, the track currently rated a good 4 and there should be a slight advantage to on pace runners, particularly in the shorter races.

Here’s today’s tips:

Race One – Anzac Handicap – 2000m

SH:        9 – Gingerboy

MP:       3 – Diametric (best bet of the day)

Race Two – Legacy 2015 Badge Appeal Handicap – 1600m

SH:        6 – Iggimacool

MP:       6 – Iggimacool

Race Three – RSL Ramlegh Springs Handicap – 1600m

SH:        7 – Magnus Slipper

MP:       4 – Stylish Miss

Race Four – Beveridge Williams Plate – 1100m

SH:        10 – Vezalay

MP:       6 – Our Harmony

Race Five – KS Environmental Vain Stakes – 1100m

SH:        1 – Stoker (each way)

MP:       2 – Demonstrate

Race Six – Lister Quezette Stakes – 1100m

SH:        5 – Petits Filous (best bet of the day)

MP:       8 – Miss Gunpowder (each way)

Race Seven – PB Lawrence Stakes – 1400m

SH:        1 – Smokin’ Joey

MP:       2 – The Cleaner

Race Eight – Winslow Group Regal Roller Stakes – 1200m

SH:        2 – Bondeiger (each way)

MP:       6 – Platinum Rocker (each way)

Race Nine – Australian Defence Force Handicap – 1800m

SH:        9 – Clemo (each way)

MP:       2 – Raposo
